The Benefits of Long Rides
The longer you go, the more you tend towards free fatty acid oxidation. Having the ability to utilize fat at the highest rates possible is an advantage in long endurance events. The other thing that the rides do is go through the whole fiber population. Unless you do very high intensity intervals, I don't think you do that.
