The Paradigm of Trauma in the Elderly
Every new older adult surprises me at how good they are at hiding, how sick they are. For an older adult, even a same level fall can result in significant spinal injuries. It's sadly common how often we see someone with preexisting spinal stenosis convert to a cord injury. An older adult who's anticoagulated or on antiplatelet therapy can quickly lead to a massive bleed requiring transfusions and NGO.
