CHAPTER

Quantum Error Correction

The idea of quantum error correction is, as I noted earlier, if we want to manipulate quantum information accurately, we have to prevent it from interacting with the environment. So what we do is we make use of entanglement. We encode the information that we want to protect in a highly entangled state. That's how quantum error correction will work in the long run. But it's expensive, because if our gates have of 1%, it's just a little too high.
