The Shift in Landscape Work
I started to do warm-up space in the morning which is like lots of little sort of five, ten minute sketches often in black and white. There was something in doing those it was just really gratifying to have a simple image almost immediately that you know looked like a landscape. With the characters and the creatures it just seemed to take a lot more faffing about to get them to a level where I was happy with them especially with the characters and anatomy. That kind of faces still take me hours and hours to do whereas I can knock out a full blown sort of portfolio piece level landscape in the same time as it takes me to paint a nose so it's that kind of instant
