It's not certain when bluestonehenge was first erected, but sometime during stonehenges initial use as a cemetery is a good guess. After that, at the same time as stonehenge was rebuilt into its massive current form, and durrington walls exploded into a huge settlement with its timber circles. This bluestone circle down by the river was dismantled. Its stones were almost certainly taken t stonehenge to become part of the monument itself. And the circle was replaced by an earthwork henge, a bank with a ditch on the inside. this is an important spot because it's the obvious landing point for some one coming south along the river avon from durrington
