Inequality of labor income and inequality of wealth are important to a large extent. But both evolutions involve a different term, mecanism. The book is trying to shift the attention from the equality of labor income to the inequality of s which sins a very longer and migt be even more important. And there is clearly strong incentive for fore top managers to try to get as much as they can.
