The Resolute Desk

Jackie Kennedy spent the whole redecorating budget just on family quarters upstairs. She had to turn Eisenhower's hotel-like decorating style into nice rooms for her children. One major thing she found was the Resolute Desk, which had been given to President Hayes by Queen Victoria. It's made of timber from the HMS Resolute, a ship that was abandoned by the British in the Arctic.
