Optimism and Helplessness

Psychologists found that only about two thirds who got inescapable events, unsolvable problems, became helpless. The other one third of people and animals didn't become helpless. So the story was that pessimists become helpless easily. They get depressed at about twice the rate of optimistic people. And optimists a are resilient. When bad events occur, they recover, and they don't become helpless in the laboratory easily at all.
