The Four Virtues of Prayer
For St. Thomas, religion and prayer are really placed under justice. The whole virtue of religion is seen as part of our soul of justice. Fortitude is that virtue by which we are able to train our contending or irascible appetites. Temperance on the other hand, deals with moderate and concu-cucibles appetites. And then one that doesn't have a nice pairing is anger. Anger always arises from some sense of injustice. Injustice done to ourselves, we haven't thought what is due to us,. Or injustice committed against someone who we care for. So anger comes forth from that. It's meant to fuel our fight, as it were, for
