If China wanted, they could push a nuclear button and dump all the treasuries on the market at once. The cascade of risk that that would cause throughout the financial system would be horrific. They want to get off the dollar standard but there are structural problems that this system cannot last forever. There are more imbalances that will ever create more debt in the global economy.
