How to Make a Likeable NPC

Tie it to people's backstories are good. Mentors are always really good for betraying like if someone comes along with a piece of advice or tutelage that one of the characters has been looking for. Another way to sort of you know hide the fact that somebody is going to betray the party later is to have them be helpful. Or they could fully have a sympathetic backstory and just their way of solving their problems is against whatever the party is going for. You can flip it you can have someone who is super low status that then turns out that they were pulling the strings all along. That's an option. There's also so many ways to like phrase NPC's backstory that
