The Mechanistic Framework
The mechanistic framework is an extension of the common sense idea that devices that Surround us are made out of different parts. This is a way to understand a system and this is a way of explaining what a system does, you know in terms of what the parts are doing. It's also the basis to a degree an important aspect of the scientific revolution in the Renaissance when people started drawing analogies between physical systems and machines. And so I've argued that we should join the rest of science and think in terms of mechanisms but it's tricky.
