The Peril of Buddhist Exceptionalism
Buddhism is a rich and important tradition, but it's a religious tradition. It can't be understood in terms of the usual concepts we would apply to other religions like race or class. But i don't think i've ever said it's not a religion. For sure, millions of people practise it as a religion. That's inarguable all over the world, with faith claims, you know, metaphysical rituals. And i think that's great. I'm willing to have this conviction challenged and changed.
