Erasmus's Greek Bible
In 15 16, Erasmus published a copy of the new testament in its original language, greek. The greek version was composed alongside a latin translation. In the preface, he wrote that the bible should be made available to all persons, not just the educated. He said that christ spoke to the common people, not just theologians. Luther soon became a bit of a folk hero across the region. Unlike the efforts of earlier reformers like john wickliffe, luther had access to the printing press.
