The reaction to this has been mixed. Commentators point to this stepping back as one of the latest founders. Others have pointed out that wang's mentor, tan yong ping, also retired at age forty to set up a charitable foundation. The mentor who once took wang to lunch with buffet, and thus apparently introduced him to the concept afloat, seems to continue to have an outsize impact on wang's life choices. It remains to be seen whether this a bold move that unleashed a new phase of development for pinduoduo, or quiet changing of the guards lays for hist test.
