The Paranoid Scisoid Position

For kernberg, drive is replaced by affect. Or to state it more accurately, the drives are grounded in affect. Affect comes first, and the rives develop latera, so the two affects, pleasure and pain. In stage three, we finally get a bar between self and object. There is no ambilence yet. This is a pre ambilent stage. So we have a self separated from the other. But the f is split into an all good plus and an all bad minus. And of course, for er this is basically stage one in her theory of development. It's what melony cline calls the paranoid scisoid position.
