There have been many forecasts and prognostications about when we will get artificial general intelligence. Gary Marcus: I don't see enough kind of laboratory demonstrations now that could be commercialized to say that we're close. There's a lot of interest in the problem. If I had to guess a number, I would say 30 to 50 years.
