The Benefits of Ketamine for Airway Management
Ketamine is a sigmoid curve. It has plateaus at different levels. Once you get up to this top plateau, once they're dissociated, the only thing you're doing with more medication is prolonging the duration of effect. And we can use it for all of these things. We don't always have definitive care for everything we come across, but we can relieve pain. I like fentanyl and ketamine. There's not any science to support this. It's totally just anecdote and personal practice. I really like this combo. The other reason is that patients who are opioid naive down the pathway of addiction are going to be put off by Ketamine as an alternative.
