The EU's Ban on Ukrainian Grain Imports
Poland and Hungary ban imports of grain from Ukraine. The EU lifted tariffs on Ukrainian grain imports over a year ago. A lot of this grain was meant to get sent on to Africa, but didn't. It got it stayed in Poland and Hungary either by accident or through logistical bottlenecks. This has completely undermined local farmers economies,. So they have been protesting very strongly since February. Polish government is facing an election this year and they had to do something about it. And frankly pleasing the Kremlin really thrives on weakness and fragmentation.
