Making Sense with Sam Harris

CHAPTER

Catching a Cricket Ball

When we catch a cricket ball, what we're really doing is maintaining a perceptual variable. In this case would be the celeration of the angle of the ball to the horizon. And if ho reflect on the phenomenology of these things, i'm not so much perceiving the world as distinct objects arranged in particular ways. I'm perceiving how well my catching the cricket ball is happening. Am i likely to catch it? Is it going well or not? That's a different of description of visual phenomenology, but most of them will become important when we talk about why our experience of the inside of our bodies has the character that it has.
