The Problems With Human Capital Theory
Human capital theory says education leads to greater productivity, which is then meant to lead to greater income for the individual and the GDP of the country. But there's a considerable split amongst economists as to what we mean by education in terms of all-around development or just particular skills. And that debate is really not taken off yet, but it will. The link between education and productivity has now become wholly problematic.
