The Rise of the Montanists
The montanists were a distinct group in asia minor, in that greek area that's now turkey. They emerged in the late one hundreds and believed in new prophecies and new revelations. And they played a role in the development of orthodox christology and what would become the doctrine of the trinity. But so many of these ou now central ideas of the church that we now kind of take for granted in roman catholicism and protestantism and eastern orthodoxy, grow out of these disputes and controversies.
