The whole notion of what might be called the search for cultural identity filled our world and as filled the nineteenth century too. Almost every group, even the most peaceful, the least political groups, always tried to identify themselves in terms of some kind of historical culture by which,. rightly or wrongly, they felt themselves to belong. And so we find it in wales, and so we shall doubtless find it many places to come.
