The Importance of Party Sorting in Polarization

Sally Kohn: It's tempting to think of them as opposing stories like which is it that's going on say in the United States and by the way this has been relatively well documented in other democracies. If anything there's ongoing research that says well is party sorting this lack of ideological overlap you're right, Democrats didn't used to all be liberals and conservatives and Republicans didn't use to always mean the same thing. That model is in decline right now. The hedonist I am social laissez-faire whatever you want to do as long as you're not hurting anybody. Do it do it until your doctor tells you not to. Right.
