The Industrial Workers Strikes of 1896
The 18 96 saint petersburg textile workers strikes were something of a watershed in retrospect, and their importance only grew in time. The strikes lasted for three weeks in may and june 18 96, and were the largest industrial worker actions in russian history to date. It began as a small walkout of just a few workers in one single textile plant, but quickly spread to 20 more factories including at a minimum 18 thousand workers,. Half of these workers were men and half of these workers are women.
