In Shadowlands, Lewis comes across as a very abrasive grieving person. He calls God a cosmic sadist and when people try to comfort him, he puts them off. But in many ways, people's perception of grief observed is inaccurate. A very important line in the grief observed is that sorrow is not a state but a process.
