Lincoln's Perspective on African Americans
During the Civil War, Lincoln took a number of steps to advance the rights of African Americans. He was a centrist in the early days of his career and an adamant racist while because back then being a centrist is being racist. In one of his last speeches ever, he went so far as to propose citizenship for blacks, especially for the 200 something thousand that fought against the Confederacy. One thing I can say without a doubt now from a purely Marxist perspective is that Lincoln is a great example of how systems ruled the world not men as a king beautifully put.
