What's the History of the Cement Works?
Cement works was running between 18 90 and 19 o four, i think. The cement there would have been probably a very strong hydraulic lime a. It woudn't have been a modern portland cement because the furnaceswee cooking at a lower temperature. But the quarry is just over the road, and they built the limestone quarry,. Just over the road that they built a tunnel through the, through the rock so they could transport with a steam engine. And we think the steam train is still there at the back of the cement works - but they've taken the wheels off.
