Charles Williams edited the Evelyn Underhill letters. When he gets his first one from her, he says, receiving a letter from you is the greatest literary experience of my life. But she's the one that takes issue with him because she thinks that an animal, when it's fully alive, will be consistent with its unique animal nature and not necessarily what we've cultivated. So I'm not saying that Lewis is right or Underhill's right, but it would be interesting to engage the bait.
