Malcolm Gites' work illuminates beautifully the reconciliation of the mind and the imagination that eventually Lewis find in Christ. Whether Lugult, Ulster or not, Lewis's flowers paint pictures, poetic images of beauty and glory. What you see asks Lucy in the last battle, look up, look right, can't you see the sky and the trees and the flowers? Most famously he wrote that the picture of a fawn with an umbrella inspired Narnia. And the iconic wardrobe, now in Wheaton College, is a self-card with images of flowers.
