What Are the Absolute Essentials of the Curriculum?
The first point for any school leader is to know what is it in terms of the curriculum that students must know and be able to do. The core content, the absolute essentials should be at the heart of the retrieval tasks and quizzes. Once you've got the content ready, then you've got to have a range of low effort, high impact strategies and tasks. If we go into useful retrieval practice every single day, it has to be workload friendly and sustainable.
