What's the Problem With Dry Secretions in Trachea Patients?
When a patient has a trache, we're essentially by definition bypassing our body's humidification system. Those dry secretions can thicken up and cause the trache to get obstructed. We approach secretion management a little bit differently in patients with a trache than in other patients. You want to have the secretions thin and mobile so that the patient can cough them out easily or we can suction them out easily.
