I understand why people feel frustrated I have to sit through meetings where I would willingly chew my own arm off to leave early because it is a frustrating disempowering experience. What I'm focusing on in the book is this lack of debate right now on value literally the word isn't even used believe it or not by economists. Adam Smith made a whole list of people who he thought were really unproductive and strangely every kind of singer and dancer was on that list but the funny thing with the operates that opera singers opera dancers are all unproductive instead of thinking of it like that again if we can really debate value.
In this two-part episode recorded in 2018, economist and author Mariana Mazzucato discusses her book, The Value of Everything, with UK Labour MP Stella Creasy. It's a wide-ranging discussion looking at how real wealth is created in our economy and how we can measure the true worth of both infrastructure and services. Mariana Mazzucato is Professor in the Economics of Innovation and Public Value at University College London.
We’d love to hear your feedback and what you think we should talk about next, who we should have on and what our future debates should be.
