The Second Vatican Council That Ends in 1965

The first Vatican council ended in 1870, and some Catholics broke away to form the old Catholic church. Pope Pius IX blasted these schismatics for consecrating a theologian named Joseph Hubert Reinkens as one of their bishops. The Old Catholic Church allows its members to use contraception because they don't recognize papal teaching after 1870. Most traditionalists today would say the old Catholics were the real heretics.
