The Story of Andrew Dixon White
Andrew dixon white wrote a history of the warfare of science with theology in christendom. In 18 96, he put together a massive book that gives us his motivation for the book. As honored clergymen solemnly warned their flocks against the atheism and indifferentism of university. Ezra cornell and andrew dixon white set up cornell university to afford an asylum for science where truth shall be taught for truth's sake.
