Sometimes it takes three bad drafts to get that fourth really good one, the one you were actually looking for in the first place. So if you do have to shape that piece of wood, you've already spent, you know, numerous time carving, shaving that wood. You're becoming more proficient at it as you're doing it. That second piece of writing is going to be easier to write than the first.
