M ps can't get fired for something like misconduct. The only way to remove an m p from their seat is a recall petition, or if they resign. So sometimes i do think that sort of structure creates an attitude among some m p sevenly - it creates the sense of invincibility. If you're an m p with a large majority and you've been in parliament for decades, you sort of feel as though you can get away with making sleazy remarks because, in essence, who's going to stop you? "We need to have more women with real power across the architecture of political power in this country," she says.
