The Logicalization of Math
Seth and I were talking about the concept of truth tables. The idea that all mathematical truths are true by definition, which is a radical departure from other philosophers who had used it before. Seth: He was not the first one to do this but he was just sort of giving his version of it. We can take any random configuration on truth tables and say, oh, this is the definition of the or sign - we could make up our own signs. If they're logically equivalent, he says signs which serve one purpose are logically equivalent signs which serve no purpose are logically meaningless.
