How I Moved From Classical to Folk Music

I grew up studying classical music and I really loved folk music but at that time it wasn't so easy to get your hands on recordings of. Folk musicians learn by ear, they don't necessarily read music although nowadays a lot of them do as well. The moment where it kind of became possible for me to just actually get into playing was when I was working at the Guildhall with Paloma Trigas and Joe Broughton who are fantastic violin players. They wanted to start a big folk band in the Guildhall which is very much classical music,. focus, they do have jazz and there's drama but classical music is the sort of main thing that it's associated with.
