The Economist Country of the Year Contest

Our global staff of correspondents and editors debated and deliberated on the countries that improved most over the course of 20 21. Malae proved a shining exception to the general slide away from democracy in east africa. We solicit nominations from all economist contributors by emal, and they send them in. And we get a great big, long list of them in a big email chain. Then we have a serious discussion, alas remotely at the moment because of covered 19, and we debate the options.
