Is There a Threat to the Future of General Practice?
Survey by RCGP found that 27% of people working in primary care felt their practice was at risk of closure. 9 in 10 blamed unmanageable workloads, the key driver behind this and about two thirds also highlighted partners leaving and a shortage of salary GPs. Cost of buying in to GP partnerships has risen sharply because interest rates have gone up. Practices receive rent reimbursement from the NHS but that's only reevaluated every few years.
