Why Did the King of Hungary Turn a Blind Eye to Erzabet?
Why did it take until 1610 for the alarm to be raised? The minister, who I've reported as confronting her in the church, did so at some time between 1602 and 1604. Can some of what we're learning today be explained by political intrigue? It was the Habsburgs who stood to gain in 1610 if Erzabet was imprisoned or executed. In 17th century Hungary, those convicted of a crime forfeited their property to royal treasury.
