The Life and Times of Halavi
Halavi wrote hundreds of surviving poems in Hebrew. He would deserve a place of honor in a podcast devoted to the history of Jewish literature, if anyone out there feels like starting one up. His own wanderings might have given him extra reason to focus on the theme of exile. But it was not just the perennial situation of exile that troubled Halavi; his poems allude to the Jews' vulnerability as Christian and Muslim armies clashed for control of Spain.
