The Discipline of History

The discipline of history from its birth that is to say, you know, professional history as it has come to be seen in American universities and institutions in the 20th century was kind of progressive in its orientations. The idea of a constitution based in natural rights thinking natural law thinking I eat things that do not change was completely alien to them so they either didn't see or if they did see simply could not take seriously the founders constitution. Even though major progressive thinkers like Woodrow Wilson were kind of telegraphing this they were Telegraphing their hostility to the founders constitution which underlay the Constitution.
