Before he was a climate scientist, Michael Mann worked as an accountant. He says his work with the Clinton Health Access Initiative in Malawi helped him learn how to scale up programs that improve access to healthcare for people who traditionally lack it. After working on health care projects in Liberia and West Africa, he became interested in trying to find ways to make carbon removal more accessible by reducing its cost. "How do we drive down the cost of this technology? How do we scale it up?" asks Mann.
