The Rise and Fall of NASA's Earth Observation System
In the 90s and 2000s when NASA built its earth observing system there was a lot of pushback against that because people feared it would validate environmentalists' claims. The their berry your head and the sand idea being I suppose that if you couldn't observe the carbon dioxide from space then you wouldn't have any proof. So they've stopped doing that and now NASA is you know gung ho on continuing to observe the earth from space using this system that was built out.
