The first carbon offset was actually done 35 years ago. It's increasingly a contentious topic. There are many bad offsets out there, and I'm not going to get into sort of the whole why they're bad and why they're good. If you're doing offsets and thinking of offsets, you might consider the idea of contribution claims as an alternative to offsets.
