Neurons communicate via electrical signals and special chemicals called neurotransmitters assist in moving these electrical messages from neuron to neuron. So it's very much thought that this disorder in particular is an electronics issue, a once again a looping of an electronic signal in our brain. The usual time of onset is later for girls however than boys. Boys usually show it early and then as women develop they tend to roll into it too. It's actually equally proportioned amongst men and women.
