I would use Twitter quite a lot to look at what local journalists are doing in places like Mali and Niger. I started off using Twitter in Yemen when I was working there, because the town that was entirely controlled by Al-Qaeda,. They were all posting on Twitter. So, you got to see in almost real time what was happening in these places.
