The Soviets' Failure to Intercept a Korean Airlines 007
Korean Airlines 007 was going to overfly Petropov-Loss which is a city and port on the Camp Chodkip Peninsula that you know well from your writing. The Soviet Air Defense Forces tried to intercept that aircraft and failed but what was a bigger deal was when this other aircraft came through the orbit. US never got access to the black box black box sets of KL 007 but the Soviet Union didThe Soviets found the black boxes and they kept them secret for years and finally revealed in the 90s that they had them and showed there was a navigational error on the part of KL 00 7.
